Folding Chair

While I gather my thoughts for my first official blog post, I want to share something I drew recently. Many of you know I am diving into the world of Illustration. I've been a private art teacher for a long time now and I feel God is taking me into a new direction. More about that in a later post. BUT this picture above was a little experiment... I have been teaching myself digital painting as well as gathering information about illustration type artwork. I really have no clue what illustration agencies look for, but I need to tap into the mindset of making art for illustration use and not for a gallery show. So, what does that mean and how does this picture relate to that? I have no clue. I had a half baked idea in my head to work off a word prompt, because If I were to work for an author or magazine they would need me to illustrate something to support a body of text and an idea. This example was from a single word prompt "Folding Chair". I wanted to think of something dynamic, and something that told a story. I don't know if I succeeded, but I had a lot of fun stepping out of my comfort zone. Not only with a new art media, but also with the style, and working from imagination. For those of you who know me know how meticulous I am to details and realism, this was a challenge!
